The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a distinct approach to catechesis, through which the children build deep, lifelong relationships with Christ and His Church. Originating in Rome in the 1950s, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd uses a rich Montessori approach to engage children as young as three years old in age-appropriate, hands-on materials, based on Sacred Scripture and the Liturgy.

In Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, some of the topics children learn about are:

  • Prayer

  • The Kingdom of God

  • The Altar

  • The Mass

  • The Bible

  • The Nativity

  • Jesus’ Passion & Resurrection

  • The Good Shepherd

Classes are offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:45 for ages 3 to Grade 3, and on Sunday mornings from 10:00 - 11:30 for ages 3 to Grade 3.

Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion take place within Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
