What should I do with last year's palms?

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, we begin Lent and celebrate Ash Wednesday. By tradition, the ashes that are used for Ash Wednesday are obtained by burning the palms left over from the Palm Sunday celebration of the year before. Those ashes are then collected and blessed as part of the liturgy that is involved with Ash Wednesday.

Do you have palms from past Palm Sundays or other religious articles that you are not sure how to properly dispose of? The Evangelization Committee can assist you. There is a box on the bottom shelf of the E-Team Tables in the Gathering Space for these articles. Also, if you have new religious articles you would like to share with the parish, there is a bin for those as well. Expect blessings.
